Killzone 2 ran in 720p and looked pretty damn good. How many people have TV's big enough for the difference to be noticeable anyway? I watched a video of WipEout HD on my 40" 1080p set in both 720p and 1080p and the only difference i saw was that in 1080p i could see the writing on the side of the vehicle and in 720p it was "smudgy," and that was paused on one frame and looking for differences.
1080p is better, but most people won't notice the difference.
I think you're right about that. But it's also the Xbox fans that have the biggest problem with PS3's mandatory installs. Goes both ways.
I'm betting that in the next few years MS will have, with Natal, completely transformed the 360 into the Wii 2, where gamers can go to play the latest versions of "Ricochet" and "Throw Buckets of Paint on a Canvas." Meanwhile they will have released a new system that can more directly compete with the graphics the PS3 will be pumping out by then (at a cheaper retail price).
Microsoft said that dev kits were arriving at developers "today," so, while there will surely be more tweaking of Natal, it is probably pretty near complete.
Yeah, i'm sure he was nervous about their tech being compared to another motion control system revealed one day earlier, but his nervousness probably had a lot to do with the fact that he's an engineer who does not, as part of his job, speak in front of thousands of people.
...but then i realized it would probably not look nearly as good on my 40" screen as on a handheld.
I should say i don't have a PSP, but if there was complete interoperability between it and PS3 (eg. remote play for ALL games), i would be much more tempted. Again, hopefully a PSP2 thing
It looked really good at MS's event. I especially liked the "tag and execute" feature that makes fisher seem really badass. I only have a PS3, though, so timed exclusive is my only chance at this one. If it never comes, though, I will get through my disappointment just like i'm okay not being able to play Gears and Halo (wish i could, but not enough to buy a new system).
Nobody on either side really seemed to care about this when the game was announced at Sony's event. The (lack of) reaction was probably the thing that most disappointed Sony about their event. But when it's announced as MIGHT come to the 360, fanboys jump up to scream "Sony just lost another one!"
You said: "This is not innovate in the least bit...and neither does that copy-cat Mario Kart rip off."
I'm curious to hear what you think about that "Joyride" game (do i have the correct title there?) that MS announced at their conference.
We don't know anything about price for either yet, so let's not try to complain about what has to be bought.
I don't see it, but i don't exactly go around looking for dildos everywhere.
And Kudo's Avatar convulsing wildly in an attempt to lift its foot was a smooth demo? The stuff in Natal's demo that looked best was scripted and staged for a film crew. Sony's was working fully in real-time on stage.
Natal will be great for casual/party games and is an AWESOME interface to the dashboard, but Sony motion control is WICKED accurate and i could easily see it used in more hardcore games.
That's when the other stuff was coming.
Not even necessarily a tech demo. It could just be a concept video used to get funding approved.
(I actually heard somewhere that's what the Killzone E3 '05 trailer was, too. It wasn't supposed to be shown publicly.)
Could take over the casual market... or it could take over as the place to put shovelware party games.
...that EA mentioned Epic as a "partner" in their press conference? Has Epic released anything with EA as the publisher before? Maybe some evidence about the rumored PS3 exclusive horror game.
It hasn't been officially announced, just leaked (all but confirmed, though).
So Cryengine on PS3 will probably look SLIGHTLY better, but 360 will not be different enough to take away from the experience.
I think it was Peter Jackson who said "You never FINISH a movie, you just run out of time." I respect that they want to make it the best they can, but at some point you gotta let it out of the nest. I mean, with WRC and NASCAR built into the game, this will already be the last racing game you ever need.
